Segment title: What Altabank has learned during COVID-19 Pandemic
GRANT: Welcome to Altabanking. Weekly business talk geared toward elevating your financial future. Len Williams is President and CEO of Altabank and Len, good to have you back! Last time we talked was before the recent economic downturn. Do you mind sharing with us what Altabank has learned over the past few months from navigating these times of uncertainty?
LEN: Thank you, Grant. It’s been a wild ride and I don’t think we’re quite finished yet. Priority number one was safe employees. Number two was to ensure the bank was in a position to act. And number three was to ensure we could provide support for our clients and communities. We learned that business continuity planning matters, that people are resilient, that they’re creative and that patience and good intentions matter. Have a plan that is flexible and adjustable.
GRANT: The past few months have accelerated the pace of change in the business world. How has Altabank adjusted to new ways of doing business?
LEN: Working remotely and staying connected to our clients virtually. Implementing new technologies, we work all the channels – ATMS, drive-thrus, apps, phones, Zoom, texting, e-mail.
GRANT: I’ve noticed many businesses exploring new partnerships just to survive and thrive right now, why is it important to create these partnerships and can you give us an example of a new partnership Altabank has forged?
LEN: It Is important to look at your current partnerships and see how you can help each other out in uncertain times like these. It’s also important to take stock of where you may be lacking in certain areas and consider new partnerships that will help you solve problems that are coming out of this pandemic. For example, we realized at Altabank, we needed to team up with a company that could help us deliver more efficiently on the electronic side of things when the payroll protection program rolled out. The program allowed us to assist hundreds of more businesses in a timely manner and this turned out to be a great partnership and learning opportunity for us.
