The Utah Charities Altabank Supports
How, Where and When to Donate to Utah Charities Building Positive Change
At Altabank, we believe strongly in giving back to the community that supports us. We work hard to identify causes and organizations that serve our state, particularly some of our most vulnerable groups. There is a great tradition of charity and good will in Utah. We are proud to do our part by donating hundreds of volunteer hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.
There are many, many causes and charitable organizations working to make Utah a better place for all. We invite you to follow our lead and contribute to some of our favorite charitable groups in the state.
Here’s how, where and when to donate to a few of the Utah charities building positive change:
Charitable Giving: How to Donate in Utah
Utah has built a reputation as the “Most Charitable State in America,” according to Wallethub. That kind of generosity seems to be contagious in our community.
There is no right or wrong way to demonstrate charity. The act of charitable giving itself is what matters. If what you have to give is time, regardless of how much, give time. If you can afford to give a dollar, go ahead and give the dollar. Organizations recognize and appreciate the act.
Start by choosing a cause that is meaningful to you, perhaps one with a local impact or focused on supporting younger generations. However, it's important to stay vigilant against those who might try to exploit your generosity. Be cautious of fraudulent solicitations, and as a best practice, consider donating to registered 501(c)(3) organizations to ensure your contribution makes a genuine difference.

When to Donate to Utah Charities? End of the Year or Anytime?
They say a good deed is its own reward, and that’s absolutely true. But here’s an added bonus: your generosity can also come with some tax perks. With the holiday season fast approaching, it’s the perfect time to lend a helping hand to those in need. And while scoring a little boost on your tax return might not be your main motivation, understanding when and how to give can make a real difference when tax season rolls around in the New Year.
Here’s a key tip: the timing of your donation matters. Contributions are deductible for the year they’re made, so if you’re feeling the spirit of the season, you might want to plan your giving accordingly.
Of course, the true joy of giving isn’t tied to tax deductions—it’s about the impact your kindness has on others. Whether it’s the holidays or just a random Tuesday, give from the heart and savor the happiness that comes from making a difference.
